The Snake, The Woman, Jared and I
We started out on a new devotional "Grandpa's Box: Retelling the Biblical Story of Redemption" a couple of days ago. Chapter two was aptly titled "Sneak Attack". I've been praying for wisdom to open Jared's spiritual eyes a little bigger. My prayer was too small - mine eyes needed some work on as well. :)
Our conversation yesterday morning was lovely.
Jared figured out that we are in a dangerous situation. Our enemy is always figuring out the best battle tactics to use against us. Eve had it all going for her - she could even physically enjoy walks and talks with God. She saw God in His splendor and glory. And YET, Satan found her weak point. He sneaked up on her where she had no battalions guarding her.
The little mind realised that we, who don't have a "face-to-face" relationship with God, are really at risk. We need to have watchmen at the towers of our lives on the lookout for enemy troops. Just a little break in our defense lines could be big trouble.
I just loved how he was fitting all this in with his current fascination with war, war strategies and famous military figures.
Praise God that this morning's reading showed us the enemy has been crushed.
